Ha, just got contacts yesterday... haha it's my first time wearing contacts WOAH !!! It was really scary when the optician first peel my eyelids wide open and pushes the lens towards my eye, I was thinking like OMG is she trying to poke my eyes? Worst still la, her nails are super long and I kept blinking. Luckily, she put it in swiftly ... phew !!!

Then she told me to put the lens into my right eye myself and I was thinking like "Oh Shit!, i'm dead". I peeled my eye lids open as she instructed but my eyes just close automatically when I tried to insert the lens. Haha, maybe that's what you call reflex action... Anyway, I tried and tried but the lens kept dropping out. I was damn frustrated la and tears just kept flowing out of my eye. Hey, not that I cried ok but it's just that I opened my eyes for too long without blinking. Finally, with one last attempt I managed to get it right and the lens managed to stay in my eye. Hurray !!!

Oh my god, the entire ocip experience was terrific. We get to stay in these huts that are made of bamboo, by the side of a river. Haha, it was really cold at night as the wind blew through the gaps of the bamboo wall. We were really glad that we made a OCIP pullover prior to the trip.

The villagers were indifferent towards us, I don't think they even knew of our presence. The construction workers are worst, they kept taking breaks and their work rate is very very .... very slow. Hiya, we want to work and help out in the construction but there are not enough tools. It's really damn slack there so we find our own entertainment and played Sabotuer.

Here's how the game goes about: firstly, you'll be given role cards where you'll either be a gold digger or a sabotuer. The objective of the game is to lay down roads and lead yourself to the gold (for the gold digger) The sabotuer on the other hand has to put down road blocks and other power cards to stop the gold digger from attaining the gold. Sound pretty easy huh? Well, it's mainly a teamwork thing and you'll have to rely on your other similar-role members to assist you.

Well, as the day went by, the workers became more friendly towards us. They started assigning tasks and took less breaks... Yess!!! That's what we are here in Chiang Mai for --- to built a library and educate the local kids. Maybe, its our sincerity that touched the workers' heart. No doubt the construction process is back breaking and tiring, we enjoyed the construction work. We learnt how to mix cement, lay bricks, plaster the walls, painting them ... Now that I'm back, the cement mixer ,which many of us has taken for granted, has a new meaning for me. From the trip, I've learnt to appreciate more things which I've taken for granted in the past.

The last night of our stay at the village was indeed memorable. We had a culture exchange where we got to witness the karen traditional dance and the sword dance. We performed our local song "we will get there" for them as well. However, the best has yet to come. We were given some lanterns by the locals and told to light them. (They are somehow similar to the kong ming lanterns used by the chinese) It was really fascinating to see the lanterns drifting upwards towards the dark-blue sky. And the sky there was littered by so many stars that it looks as if you have step into the science centre omni-theatre.

It's really sad to leave the village and the simple life there. Sometimes, I wonder if the materialistic lifestyle is indeed more blissful than a simple, laid back life. Maybe, ignorance is bliss after all ...

That's the exact number of hours in which I'll be leaving for my OCIP trip. Should I sleep now or should I not sleep at all ? Thousands if not millions of things seems to flood my head... How's the place like? Did i bring enough clothes ? ... etc. Haha, the moments before an expedition are really torturous. Well, I guess i'll have to try to sleep now if not i'll look like a zombie tomorrow...

BE BACK IN TWO WEEKS TIME !!!

I'm really glad to be able to sit down in my room and post this blog. Coz from monday onwards, I'll be Chiang Mai (thailand) for my OCIP. It's a two week trip so I'll be hibernating again. Frankly speaking, I'm having mixed feelings about my OCIP trip. Yes, I do want to go to Chiang Mai and experience a different life and help others as well. However, I'm worried about stepping out of my comfort zone. There'll will no more T.V , computer, youtube, msn and blah blah for next two weeks. It's going to be gruelling, exhausting and back-breaking.

Well, I'm gonna experience being a construction worker coz we are building a library there for the kids. Yes, it's hard work. But, I think it's worth it coz at the end when you see that subtle smile coming out from the local children, all the pain and ache is gone. It's time for me to contribute back to the society. (Hahas, think of the series HEROES).

Well, it has been along while ever since I've blog... Hahas, time really flies. 2007 is almost over and here comes 08. This few days is really mad coz I have to go to school everyday for OCIP (chiang mai) rehearsal and shoot some advertisements for some video award thingy. Anyway, today was safety rehearsal day. Mr Ho brief us on what to do when we are injured overseas, it was really funny during the part where we had to role-play. I was chosen to be part of the security team where I must prevent people from crowding together. I can't speak thai so i used my hands to shoo the others. Then there's this guy who lay on the steps and was moaning loudly. Strangely, no one attend to him and we were all lauging at his moans. After, it was serious, BORING stuff again. We were brief for the final time on the packing list and I realised that I got no first aid kit. Hiyah ...

So after the briefing, I went to hougang mall. I know it's some "heartland" shopping center but trust me, it wasn't that bad. I managed to grab all the first aid equipment in a Guardian store and bought an adapter from this DIY store. The shop keeper kept calling me "xiao di di". Do I look like a little boy? By then it was almost 1pm. My stomach was protesting, I went to the nearest Mr Bean store and bought 6 pancakes. The ones with cheese are nice but I dicovered that the ones with chocolate fillings taste really good. Hmmm... some day I should try out other flavours, who knows maybe there's something even nicer than chocolate filling ?

The common test are coming soon in four days time, ahhhhhhhh..... Okay, I think i'm screwed this time round. I still have lots of things to study and I simply cannot stay away from my com. Anyway, I'm glad I've just bought this new album containing a compilations of 45 really nice songs. It is really worthwhile buying as it contains songs like "You and I both" by Jason Mraz, "the distance" by Switchfoot, "Blind" by Lifehouse and many other enjoyable, relaxing tunes. By the way, the cover of the album is shown below.

Ahhhh.... I can't believe what I've just did. There is this girl that I fancy, and I happened to bump into her on two occasions during this holidays. Guess what I did ? I just said "HI" and then "Bye" to her. Urghh... I'm such a idiot. I should have said something else and have a short chat with her.

Anyway, god is pretty nice to me. It's not that I'm thinking too much, but to bump into my "Favourite" girl twice on my way home is too much of a coincidence. I really enjoyed the days that we had spent together during pre-u seminar. During that time, we could joke around and laugh at lame stuff together. But now, I just seem so helpless when I met her on the streets. What must I do ?
